Overpressure Protection

External protections

In the unlikely event of the battery being damaged, causing internal venting or fire, the rear retaining coupling has been designed to allow the end cap to pop out of the housing slightly, venting any internal gasses and avoiding internal pressure buildup.

The coupler keeps the end cap attached to the housing in the event of pressure build up to facilitate venting, however, when the end cap pops out it will do so quickly, and will move approximately 1-inch before stopping.  This movement could cause injury and any venting gasses would be extremely hot, potentially causing injury or fire.

It is advised to not handle the battery during charging or discharging, and to never leave it unattended.
