Power Consumption and Storage

Power Consumption Comparison: Rayfin MK2 vs. Rayfin Hibernation Camera

This section compares the power consumption between the standard Timelapse mode using the Rayfin MK2 Camera and the Timelapse mode with the Hibernation feature using the Rayfin Hibernation Camera.

  • Rayfin MK2 Camera: During idle periods (such as when the camera is waiting for the next preset operation like recording or taking photos), the Rayfin MK2 Camera continues to consume idle power.

  • Rayfin Hibernation Camera: In contrast, the Rayfin Hibernation Camera enters hibernation mode, significantly reducing power consumption during these idle periods.

The following charts illustrate the power consumption differences over the course of a year for a Timelapse system using the two cameras. Additionally, the tables provide detailed information on the camera's power and storage consumption, as well as the power consumption of Auxiliary devices. At the end of this section, you’ll find an example scenario, along with a script and calculations to help you estimate your system’s overall power and storage consumption.

1. Idle power consumption
2. Divided by 3600 to get watt/hour value
3. Since the script period is too short we can assume 24 hours for hibernation
4. Hibernation power consumption
