Safety and Handling

1. Safety Instructions

A. Mechanical Components

Safety Warning: Always wear heavy cut-resistant gloves when inspecting the isolators. A snapped stainless steel strand can puncture skin.

  1. Never lift the system from the LED’s or Camera assembly. Doing so may result in permanent deformation of Wire Rope Isolators. Always lift the system from the bottom plate only.

  2. Always wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (hand and eye safety) before performing any assembly/disassembly.

  3. Never loosen any fastener. In case of reinstalling a fastener, make sure to tighten the fasteners to the specified torque. Refer to Assembly Procedures for torque specifications and assembly order.

B. Electrical Components

The system must be fully powered down before disconnecting any electrical

connections. Failure to do so may result in water ingress into live connections and

cause catastrophic damage.

  1. Never connect/disconnect wet equipment with power on.

  2. All connectors are wet-mateable; however, the system must be completely depowered before removing any connector to prevent water ingress into live connections. Water ingress may cause catastrophic damage to the system.

C. Auxiliary Components (LEDs, Cameras)

CRITICAL WARNING: Do not open, unscrew, or disassemble the cameras or LED’s.

All auxiliary payloads are sealed, nitrogen purged, and pressure-tested.

Opening these components destroys the watertight seals, voids the warranty, and risks catastrophic flooding on the next deployment.

  1. Never open or unscrew any of the housings. All housings are sealed, purged, and pressure-tested.

  2. Never look directly into powered-on LEDs, as the LEDs are extremely bright and could damage the eyes.

  3. Never run the LEDs in a dry environment for an extended period of time. This increases the temperature of the LED, which may result in equipment damage and/or personnel injury.

2. Handling and Operation Instructions

A. Mechanical Components

  1. Always lift the equipment from the base plate. If the system is mounted on an ROV, use the ROV lifting points. Exercise caution when lifting heavy loads.

  2. Make sure that no foreign object interferes with the stroke path of Wire Rope Isolators. Always keep the system free of debris and obstructions before deployment.

  3. Make sure Wire Rope Isolators are not damaged. Broken strands of wire may result in complete failure of a Wire Rope Isolator.
